Carbonear is a town on the Avalon Peninsula in Newfoundland and Labrador. Newfoundland is an Island off the east Coast of Canada.The town of Carbonear is one of the oldest permanent settlements in Newfoundland and among the oldest settlements in North America lending to a rich and interesting history. The Town boasts the story of Princess Sheila NaGeira and the privateer, Gilbert Pike, who left the service of Peter Easton when Easton decided to become a pirate, is one of the great stories of Newfoundland.
